Tlingit totem pole A great early and unusual Tlingit red cedar totem pole. An individually carved diving Cormorant or Kingfisher is located at the top, followed by a mosquito biting the back of a frog. a seated bear with raised paws at base. A very unusual feature of the pole is that the bird at the top is designed to pivot at the top via the back. Great aged patina and original condition. Carved from one piece of wood. |
Tlingit model totem pole A fine large Tlingit red cedar model totem pole. Great large size standing 24" tall not including the base. Features a Beaver chewing on a stick, Bear biting a halibuts tail and a shaman face at bottom. Nice aged patina and great deep expressive carving. |

Early Haida hollow back cedar totem pole A very rare and spectacular early Haida hollow back cedar totem pole. The most unusual feature of this totem is that it wasn't quite finished, but the parts that were have been done to the highest order of carving. The totem stands an excellent size and features a gentle hollow back. This is really an amazing study piece and is worthy of any museum setting. Note the precision of the completed carved side, amazing ovoid, split u forms, and classic 19th century form line carving. Appropriate patina with age. |
Tsimshian or Bella Bella model totem A good early northwest Coast Tsimshian or Bella Bella model totem pole. Model totems from these northern Tribal groups are some of the rarest. This example features wonderful and rather rare imagery of an Owl perched on the top holding a fish in his talons, followed by a dancing shaman and a fat frog acting as the base. Painted in great old and original pigments of red and black. excellent condition.
